At the Village Square Park, we participated in the Harvest Festival and ran a stand where we sold food and beverages, including baked goods and juice. Additionally, we did henna and temporary tattoos and sold handmade jewelry and knitted bunnies. Through all these activities, we ended up raising a total of $145 and donated $100 to a relief fund for an earthquake that took place in western Afghanistan on October 7, 2023.
Winter Craft Show
December 3, 2023
At Northern Burlington High School’s winter craft show, we set up a table where we sold knitted animals with charms, stickers, handmade jewelry, and candy grams. We also accepted any additional donations that people were willing to give to support relief funds for natural disasters in Asia. We ended up raising a total of $47.
Refugee Postcards
January 2024
Through the organization Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) USA, we created “Postcards of Hope” in which postcards are created by children from the USA to give to refugee children across the globe in order to show love and support to refugees around the world. Each member of DAY created around 2-3 postcards, each with a different style and message and the completed postcards were then sent to the organization.
Multicultural Day
March 2023/2024
We participated in our high school’s annual Multicultural Day. We created proposals for several countries in Asia and got chosen to represent the country of Bangladesh last year (2023). The following year, we got chosen to represent the country of Nepal (2024). In order to prepare for the event, we got together and created a trifold, including information such as the year of independence, the population, and notable events, figures, and accomplishments, as well as some fun facts. We created additional decorations such as banners and origami flowers to decorate our tables each year as well. Moreover, we made food items that pertained to the country that we were representing that could be distributed to the student body. We also had some students giving henna tattoos to students that wanted them.
Green Fair
April 28, 2024
The Green Fair, held at Village Square Park, was similar to the Harvest Festival, except it was during the spring time where the focus was to find ways to keep our planet healthy. In accordance with the fair’s theme of living green, we created informational pamphlets filled with information of environmental issues occurring both in the US and Asia. We set up a stand at the fair where we sold juice, stickers, handmade jewelry, and knit bunnies. We also had people doing henna tattoos. We ended up raising a total of $96 and donated the funds to Peacewindamerica – a relief fund for the earthquake in Taiwan.

We gave out homemade lemonade in Chesterfield and accepted donations. We made a total of 30 dollars.
Ganesh Utsav

We also introduced “Build A Bags,” which allow you to choose stickers, a piece of jewelry, and small plushie and purchase them at a lower combined price. We also sold sticker blind bags. We raised 95 dollars.
